Dog Boarding Centres – The Things People Do Not Tell You to Look Out For

2 Mins read

With the demand for dog boarding growing day by day, it is no wonder dog boarding facilities are springing up like mushrooms after a rain nowadays.

Dog boarding is available almost everywhere, finding one should not be too difficult for you in your town. While most people are aware of the things they need to look out for when choosing the best dog boarding facility for their pup, there are quite a few aspects that people often forget, or are not aware that they should be keeping an eye out on:

  1. Group play capacity

Most people will stop at just finding out if a dog boarding centre offers exercise time for their dogs.

More important than that though, is to check the details of their activities. If the dogs are allowed group play, find out if there is a dog professional on hand that can effectively evaluate a dog’s nature and body language or not.

You see, it is very important that establishments group like-natured dogs together only, be it play or resting time to ensure the safety of the dogs. Many times, ‘play’ that is not play at all may have an impact on your dog’s emotional state around other dogs in the future when ‘play’ becomes bullying or aggression.

While you’re at it, you will want to see if the facility has the capability to safely remove dogs also if they are showing aggressive or reactive tendencies.  Also, what are their age requirements and are puppies kept separate from adult dog play?

  1. Breed

Another item to address with your potential kennel operator is whether or not it accepts your particular breed.

Also, does your dog have any fears such as thunderstorms or other loud noises? Or does it have any behavioral issues that may occur in your absence i.e. fear or mean or particular objects/people? It is important that you let your facility know in advance so that they can pay more attention and have extra measures in place. You’d want to avoid a safety issue concerning a potential bite risk or injury to your dog in an attempt to escape the place due to extreme fear.

  1. Budget

Thirdly, your dog boarding facility should be economically sound to your capability as well.

Many establishments offer some kind of a payment plan nowadays. You may want to ask if they have any kind of special offer as well, otherwise, there are always other options to check out. Remember, it is always possible to find an alternative that offers an equal efficient amount of care for a much lower price or a price that you can personally afford.  You just need to know where to find them.

Speaking of which, we recommend checking out this excellent dog boarding centre here. Known for their care and dedication to their pets, both staffs and owner are genuine pet lovers themselves so you know your pup will be in good hands. And, they charge very reasonably, too!
