This Year’s Top Crop of Cable TV Providers

4 Mins read

A lot of digital entertainment avenues have emerged in the past decade, but cable TV will forever remain the top favorite way of entertainment for most households. Though it may cost a little more than the OTT streaming services, it is packed with a lot more variety, which is perfect for households with varying individual tastes.

We are focusing on cable TV service, not satellite or IPTV, as it is the most reliable way to watch TV. Satellites or IPTV are usually plagued with dropped signals and endless buffering.

So here we have the list of our top crop of cable TV providers from this year, so your entire family can have something to watch at all times. Here we go!

  1. Spectrum

The cable TV provider is one of the top three in the U.S. Spectrum offers Internet and Phone service along with cable TV, which you can bundle as well.

Spectrum TV plans are quite straightforward, categorized in Select, Silver, and Gold.

The provider is the most reasonably priced one out there.

Its Spectrum TV Select costs $44.99/month for the first 12 months and lets you watch 125+ channels, all in HD.

Spectrum TV Silver is priced at $69.99/month for the first 12 months and comes with 175+ channels, free HD, and you can watch HBO®, SHOWTIME® & NFL Network at no extra cost.

Spectrum TV Gold is priced at $89.99/month for the first 12 months. Spectrum Gold Package Channels reach up to 200+, including lots of HD channels. You can access HBO®, SHOWTIME®, TMC®, STARZ®, and STARZ Encore® at no extra cost with Gold TV.

That’s not all, with all of Spectrum TV packages, you can have thousands of on-demand choices and the TV app to watch everything on the go.

The biggest cherry on the top is its no-contract policy. You can cancel your Spectrum TV service whenever you like.

  1. Xfinity

Xfinity cable TV comes with two simple options for its TV service. The provider is quite affordable, and some of its value plans cost less than most providers out there. If you sign a 1-year contract, then your can subscribe to Xfinity Extra that offers 140+ channels and cost $49.99 per month or you could get Xfinity Preferred+ that comes with 220+ channels and cost $59.99 per month.

If you aren’t a fan of contracts, then you can still sign up for Xfinity services without any contracts but at a higher price. The Xfinity Digital Starter pack will cost you $70.99 per month for 140+ channels, which include top cable TV networks including ESPN, AMC, The CW, USA, TNT, and Discovery.

The Xfinity Digital Preferred plan will cost $89.49 per month with 220+ channels available.

Xfinity’s plus point is its top-notch DVR equipment, which comes with a voice-activated remote and a cable box. The Xfinity X1 DVR integrates Amazon Prime Video and Netflix with the TV records up to six shows at once and has 60 Hours of HD storage and 300 hours of SD storage capability.

  1. Cox

Cox offers the most flexibility with your cable TV as it lets you customize your package according to your entertainment needs and monthly budget. The TV provider binds you in a lengthy contract, but if you want to cancel the TV service without a hefty fine, better do it in the first 30 days of your subscription.

Standard Cox TV packages are TV Starter and Contour TV. Cox TV Starter is priced at a low $25 per month for the first 12 months and offers 75+ channels. Cox Contour TV starts at $69.99 per month for the first 12 months and offers 140+ channels.

However, with Cox, you have a choice of six-channel lineups, which can cater to a diverse palate of sports, entertainment, family, news, or lifestyle TV. Plus, if you want to add more to your package, you can choose from a number of mini-packages and add them to your cable TV package. Be it Spanish programming, telenovela, sports, SHOWTIME®, HBO®, or CINEMAX®, you have it all.

Cox DVR costs $19.99 per month, it records up to six shows at once, and has a storage capacity of 340 HD and 1000 SD hours.

  1. Optimum

Optimum is the most underrated TV provider, which is quite unfair but nothing can be done about its limited coverage. However, if the provider is available at your address, better snag the amazing benefits its TV packages offer.

Optimum TV offers three plans with Optimum Core TV priced at 74.99 per month and 220+ channel variety. You also get the internet with 300 Mbps of download speed. The good news is that there is no contract with Optimum and you can get out whenever you like.

The TV provider doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to its DVR service, which lets you record up to 15 shows and sports games at once. So no more squabbles over who’s going to watch TV when. The DVR storage capacity reached 75 HD hours.
