2 Mins read

Installing a gasket after you’ve chosen the right one, should be considered as a onetime task and should be done with complete care. Dealing with gasket failure proves to be much costlier than the cost of the gasket.  An oozing joint means wasted gas or liquid, and that can cause troubles in terms of safety and environmental. Unexpected obstructions and issues obviously hampers the production, the output and usually increases costing as it would need extra overtime working to cover up for the shortfall. Other than this there’s the actual time and effort involved in opening up the joint, cleaning the faces and installing a new gasket and all this can’t be ignored.

Newage Gaskets, non asbestos gasket supplier and jointing sheets stockist in India, equips you with the relevant gasket based on your temperature, pressure conditions making it relevant for your business requirement. The company holds this knowledge owing to 30+ years of experience and providing relevant gaskets to 500+ clients throughout India over the tenure.

Following are a few points to be kept in mind –

Check the type, magnificence, length and fabric specification of the gasket before the usage of it. Check with the piping specification to verify that it’s miles accurate. Prefer gaskets with non-asbestos materials.

Check the gasket for harm, nicks, and so on. Ensure that it’s far clean and free from any contaminants earlier than use.

Make sure the gasket you chose is suitable for the Temperature, Environment, Media and Pressure. Do Not use Soft gaskets – the ones made from substances like neoprene, graphite, fiber or cork in excessive-strain applications.

Use pre-cut tanged reinforced sheet gaskets.

Follow the correct bolt tightening procedure.

Remove any dust at the threads by wire brushing studs/bolts and nuts to. Ensure that the nuts can run freely down the threads earlier than use. Coat the studs/bolts with a thin layer of an accepted lubricant prior to set up.

Wear gloves when handling tanged reinforced gaskets.

Do not use a gasket that’s old or that has no identification. Old is definitely not reliable and unidentified gasket may appear to fit the flange but this is not a guarantee. Not worthy.

Do not take to cutting or deforming a gasket to fit a flange. If it doesn’t fit, change to a better option. Never use a gasket that’s thicker than what the flanges need. This doesn’t allow the gasket to take up surface imperfections and misalignment and so it can’t handle expansion and contraction.

One thumb rule, Do It Right!
